Merel Van Hoek
Merel Van Hoek studies music education and composition with Cornelis de Bondt. Starting as a fingerstyle guitarist her horizon began to expand when she discovered all kinds of different music. She still uses the acoustic guitar but is also discovering all the sounds of an electric guitar.
In 2014 she founded the ‘Van Hoek Quartet’. The quartet consists of violin, violoncello, drums and guitar. Merel Van Hoek composes/arranges all the music for this group and together they create an atmosphere of sound. In her compositions her starting point is always melody. Her goal is to create music with dreamy melodies – almost popmusic like – which is at the same time a very well thought composition with the use of different techniques.
Merel Van Hoek plays Greenfield acoustic guitar model GF.
