China Groove

In 2006, Don Alder was approached by film producer, Michael French, to participate in the making of a movie about Rick Hansen and The Man In Motion World Tour.  The movie is scheduled for release in theaters 2008.  Some of Don's original compositions may be used in the movie soundtrack. One of Don's goals in China was to get on the Great Wall with a guitar.  Don was first on the Great Wall 20 years ago and then again 10 years later; it was an amazing experience.

Don says:  "I can’t imagine the profound thinking that went into the creation of the Great Wall. When I was deciding what guitar to take to China it was a simple choice; it would be the guitar that also had some profound thinking in its creation. The Greenfield G4-DA Signature model that Michael built for me. When I got on the Great Wall I was inspired, went into song writing mode and came up with a new song idea.  Of course I called it "The Wall".

May 22, 2007 was the Man in Motion 20th anniversary.  On May 18 Don was invited to play a celebration show at the River Rock Casino. A very special guest was also invited to perform; John Parr.  John and David Foster co-wrote the hit song that became known as "St Elmo’s Fire". If you listen to the words they have nothing to do with the movie, as the song was actually written for Rick Hansen.  John invited Don Alder to perform the song with him. John performed using Don's G4-DA. He loved it!
