NEW!!
Model G4.2-LT (low tuning)
I am really excited about a new G4 I crafted for Greenfield Guitars endorsing artist Melissa Greener. Melissa plays in many different tunings during her performances. Constantly changing tunings during a set can take a lot of time and be distracting for both the artist and audience. Because of this, Melissa (and others) usually keeps one of her guitars “parked” in C tuning (or thereabouts). The G4.2-LT is a fanned fret G4 with a 26.0”-27.0” fan and is strung with custom gauged strings (provided by the folks at John Pearse). It will happily “live” in C, double dropped D and may be tuned up as far as DADGAD.
Many singer-songwriters and contemporary fingerstyle guitarists play in C tuning. While some long scale guitars can be tuned down to C, this guitar is specifically designed for this tuning. The 27.0” scale length on the bass side will easily provide a rock solid foundation for this monster. The slightly shorter 26.0" scale on the treble side, will allow the high end to ring clear and still retain the sweet characteristics I strive for in an articulate, singing high end; while still being long enough to support the fundamental of those top 3 strings which have all been dropped up to 2 full semitones! In C, the G4.2-LT will have the same string tension as a 25.5" scale guitar tuned to EADGBE with medium gauge strings!
The G4.2-LT is not a baritone guitar....but it is also NOT a guitar for playing in standard tuning....
